Family spray park on Skaha beach in Penticton

Skaha Lake Splash Pad

Why This One Mattered

This was a growth project for MHS as it was the first spray park we had installed. It allowed us to expand to having a professional civil superintendent as well as growing our subcontractor network. It is now successfully opened and we are moving on to a second contract with the City of Penticton demonstrating that we have become a reliable partner for them in the execution of their park plans.

Key Features

Large city park project to create a destination family splash pad on a key beach in the Okanagan. With a unique blend of concrete structures and engaging water features for all ages this is a park that will create memories for families for generations to come

Challenges

The project was awarded in the fall with a May deadline for opening. To accomplish this the project plan included finding and engaging high quality sub-contractors to do the concrete work over the winter as much as weather allowed. Then manage timelines based on changing weather conditions and coordinating subcontractor schedules with our crew schedules. There were also numerous onsite adaptations required to execute the design and maintain ecological inspections and standards during execution.
